IronFall is a game in development from VD-Dev, a studio based in France and Canada. They’ve been around for 21 years but IronFall marks their first foray into independently developing games. They usually work with big name publishers on licensed titles but they’ve decided to go it alone with their maiden Nintendo 3DS eShop title. You can watch a tech preview of the game above and there’s also some more info regarding the game below:

IronFall is a game in the vein of the hugely popular and critically acclaimed Gears of War series – it’s a third person shooter which takes place in a near future. The game graphically looks amazing from the technical preview video the studio recently revealed and VD-Dev are confident that the eShop exclusive will run at 60FPS, a huge achievement considering the impressive amount of graphical effects being boasted by VD-Dev.

The game will not be short of control options – VD-Dev are working on a variety of control options for players including supporting the Circle Pad Pro! Unfortunately, the game will not feature any multiplayer mode of any form, but that’s understandable – the team is quite small and resources would be stretched. At least it allows them to fully focus on the single player component.

I’m pretty excited for this game, it shows a lot of promise. The problem with games like IronFall, which push systems to their absolute limits can often ignore the basics such as having good gameplay or an engaging story. I just hope VD-Dev can get the right mix! It’s due to be released in Spring 2014.

If you want to learn a few more details regarding this technical marvel, check out an interview with the co-founder of the VD-Dev here.

Check out this new Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy trailer Sun, 03 Nov 2013 17:04:29 +0000

Nintendo recently revealed a new trailer for Professor Layton and the Azran Legacy, which is due to be released on November 8th and November 9th in Europe and Australia respectively.

It’s due to hit North America sometime in 2014. It’s quite long for a trailer (around 3 minutes) and looking at some of the comments on YouTube, there maybe a particular spoiler at the end of the video (the revealing of Descole’s identity). If don’t mind, watch away, it’s embedded above!

Bravely Default heading to North America in Q1 2014 Sun, 03 Nov 2013 16:45:13 +0000 bravely-default-logo

Square Enix’s RPG, Bravely Default: Flying Fairy which has been well received by Japanese critics (Famitsu gave it a near perfect score of 38 out of 40) has been given a release period. Earlier, Nintendo had confirmed that they were publishing the Square Enix game for the North American market and that it would be released in 2014. But that’s fairly unspecific.

In a financial document, good ol’ Ninty confirmed that the game will hit stores in North America sometime in Q1 2014. So that’s either in January, February or March. Not the most specific of release dates/period (whatever you wanna call it), but it’s definitely better than the previous one.

Nintendo has revealed a screenshot showing the male Wii Fit trainer in action against his doppelgänger, the already confirmed female Wii Fit trainer. However, it looks like this is a costume swap – male Wii Fit trainer character is not a entirely new character, just reskinned version of the female version.

Note: The screenshot is of the Wii U version – not the Nintendo 3DS version.

Nintendo of Europe has revealed that over 4 million copies have been sold of Pokemon X and Y, the latest games in the legendary series. It’s such an impressive figure considering the games were releases just over two weeks ago!

I’ve not yet had a chance to pick up a copy but I should have what several publications are heralding as one of the best, if not best Pokemon games ever released.
