Francisco has also been busy with university.

So who are we looking for? At least one news correspondent; someone who can report on the latests Nintendo 3DS news. If possible, we’d like two correspondents to join the site. I’d just like to reiterate; this is not a paid position.

In the future, you could be selected to attend gaming events on behalf of 3DSConnect, that’s a possible perk ;)

  • You must be at least 15 years old
  • You must be able to post a minimum of three articles each week
  • You must actually..you know, like the Nintendo 3DS

Scribblenauts Unmasked announced for Nintendo 3DS http://3dsconnect.com/2013/05/15/scribblenauts-unmasked-announced-for-nintendo-3ds/ http://3dsconnect.com/2013/05/15/scribblenauts-unmasked-announced-for-nintendo-3ds/#comments Wed, 15 May 2013 15:59:35 +0000 Mark http://3dsconnect.com/?p=16761

Warner Bros. have announced that Scribblenauts Unmasked, an all new Scribblenauts adventure which contains characters from the DC universe, will be released for both the Nintendo 3DS and Wii U this fall, in North America.

The press release reveals that players will be able to journey various locales from the DC universe, with series protagonist, Maxwell helping iconic DC characters such as Batman and Superman.

BURBANK, Calif. – May 15, 2013 – Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announces Scribblenauts Unmasked – A DC Comics Adventure, a new game that melds the boundless creativity of the award-winning video game franchise with thousands of DC Comics™ characters and objects across DC Comics worlds – all drawn in the classic Scribblenauts art style. Created and developed by 5TH Cell, the game will be available for the Wii U™ system, Nintendo 3DS™ hand-held system and PC in North and South America and Australia this fall.

Scribblenauts Unmasked features a story where players embark as protagonist Maxwell on an imaginative and comical quest, taking them through GOTHAM CITY™, METROPOLIS™, ATLANTIS™ and other iconic locales from the DC Comics universe. In the game, Maxwell comes to the aid of BATMAN™, SUPERMAN™ and the rest of THE JUSTICE LEAGUE™ as they face the mightiest DC Comics Super Villains, such as THE JOKER™, LEX LUTHOR™ and SINESTRO™. Fueled by the player’s imagination, Maxwell must use his magic notebook to put a stop to the villains’ evil schemes and save the day!

Expanding on the video game franchise’s innovation, Scribblenauts Unmasked features for the first time dynamically created puzzles called Heroic Feats that increase the game’s replayability by continuously generating original scenarios requiring different solutions with each visit.

“Scribblenauts Unmasked includes action-packed missions with fan favorite DC Comics Super Heroes adding to the players’ puzzle solving experience as the beloved Maxwell ,” said Samantha Ryan, Senior Vice President, Production and Development, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment. “Challenges in the game encourage broader player choices all set in well-known locations of the DC Comics universe, interacting in new and inventive ways with a wide range of popular DC Comics characters.”

“Fans of both DC Comics and Scribblenauts can really let their imaginations run wild with the Super Hero Creator in Scribblenauts Unmasked,” said Jeremiah Slaczka, C.E.O. and Creative Director of 5TH Cell. “Players will be challenged to craft new and never-before-seen characters such as Wonder Joker or Bane Lantern and use them to solve puzzles or share them with friends.”

A new Super Hero Creator tool available on Wii U and PC elevates the game’s creativity by giving players the ability to produce their own Super Hero or Super Villain using any item from the DC Comics universe and then setting properties for how it behaves, changing its appearance and powers. Players can then share their creations with the community and download others.

Pokemon X and Y Gameplay trailer, new screenshots and details http://3dsconnect.com/2013/05/14/pokemon-x-and-y-gameplay-trailer-new-screenshots-and-details/ http://3dsconnect.com/2013/05/14/pokemon-x-and-y-gameplay-trailer-new-screenshots-and-details/#comments Tue, 14 May 2013 12:37:34 +0000 Mark http://3dsconnect.com/?p=16734

A gameplay trailer of Pokemon X and Y has been released by Nintendo of America. It’s embedded above! The new information has been provided by a Nintendo of Europe press release. According to the press release, players will be able to ride the Pokemon, Grogoat (grass-type Pokemon) around Luminiose City.

The cowardly Pokémon Helioptile, a Normal- and Electric-type Pokémon, can generate enough electricity through sunbathing to power machinery. But wise Trainers won’t be deterred by Helioptile’s lack of bravery. It knows Parabolic Charge, a brand-new move where Helioptile attacks everything around it. Helioptile’s HP is restored by half the damage taken by those hit.

Fletchling, a Normal- and Flying-type Pokémon, sings with a beautiful chirp that is sure to delight any Trainer. Although it is known to be very friendly, Fletchling will suddenly unleash relentless attacks once it’s in battle. For example, when it uses its Fire-type move Flame Charge in battle, in addition to doing damage, Fletchling’s Speed increases every time.

With a leaf always in its mouth and an intimidating glare that is rarely effective, Fighting-type Pokémon Pancham shows its playful side when it lets out a little smile when its head is pat. Pancham can learn a brand-new move, Parting Shot, which not only lowers an opponent’s Attack and Special Attack, but also allows Pancham to switch out for another Pokémon in a Trainer’s party during battle.

Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies coming to Nintendo 3DS eShop http://3dsconnect.com/2013/05/14/ace-attorney-dual-destinies-coming-to-nintendo-3ds-eshop/ http://3dsconnect.com/2013/05/14/ace-attorney-dual-destinies-coming-to-nintendo-3ds-eshop/#comments Tue, 14 May 2013 12:36:12 +0000 Mark http://3dsconnect.com/?p=16735

Capcom has confirmed that Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies, formally known as Ace Attorney 5, will be released in both Europe and North America this fall. However, the game will be a download only game which means fans will only be able to purchase the game from the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

Capcom’s statement on Ace Attorney: Dual Destinies being download only:

“Historically it’s been tough to attract long-term retail support for Ace Attorney titles. With the release of Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Dual Destinies we wanted as many people as possible to be able to enjoy the game for as long as possible. With that in mind we have opted for a digital only release via the Nintendo 3DS eShop.

“We understand that this decision may upset fans who wanted to have a physical version of the title to add to their collection but we believe this direction is the best to take to ensure that fans are able to enjoy the game at their own leisure.

“We will be confirming details on the price point soon so please stay tuned for more information on the latest in the Ace Attorney series.”

Following on from the scans released on Saturday, we have a confirmation of the names of the four new Pokemon.

Bird Pokemon, Yayakoma, Erikiteru the floppy-eared lizard (electric/normal type) and Yancham (fighting-type Naughty Pokemon). and  Gogoat, a grass type. These are the Japanese names of the Pokemon.

Pokemon Tretta Lab announced for Nintendo 3DS http://3dsconnect.com/2013/05/08/pokemon-tretta-lab-announced-for-nintendo-3ds/ http://3dsconnect.com/2013/05/08/pokemon-tretta-lab-announced-for-nintendo-3ds/#comments Wed, 08 May 2013 20:10:23 +0000 Mark http://3dsconnect.com/?p=16718 pokemon tretta arcade

It has been revealed that Pokemon Tretta Lab is in development for the Nintendo 3DS from Marvelous AQL. The game will make use of the ‘Tretta reader’, which has been made especially for this game. So far (and unsuprisingly) the game is only confirmed for Japan. It’s pencilled in for a August 10th release date and it will retail for 3,800 yen.

No other info was given about the game, but you can find a brief description of the arcade version;

Pokémon Tretta focuses on three-on-three Pokémon battles that require special tiles, called Tretta, that depict one of the various Pokémon species in order to play. Unlike Battrio however, Tretta incorporates searching and capturing Pokémon in various locations. Pokémon caught in game are dispensed for players to use in other battles, or to add to their collection.

eShop Review: Alien Chaos 3D http://3dsconnect.com/2013/04/29/eshop-review-alien-chaos-3d/ http://3dsconnect.com/2013/04/29/eshop-review-alien-chaos-3d/#comments Mon, 29 Apr 2013 17:53:17 +0000 Mark http://3dsconnect.com/?p=16662 Alien Chaos 3D Logo

From Swedish developer Ludosity and publisher Reef Entertainment, frantic action shooter game, Alien Chaos 3D, makes its way onto the Nintendo 3DS eShop for a bargain price of £3.59.

Originally released as a bargain packaged title in North America, Alien Chaos puts you in the control of Really Shooter (yes that is his name), a commando, who runs a cleaning business with Mama. However, one day Mama is kidknapped by evil alien robots and it is up to Really to rescue her. He has to destroy any enemy who gets in his way over a course of 30 levels.

It’s a silly plot, but the game doesn’t focus on the story. It’s all about the hectic shooting gameplay.

alien chaos 3d screenshot

In terms of graphics, Alien Chaos 3D will definitely not be winning any awards any time soon – the graphics are so-so, with the 3D effect being a basic – definitely nothing to write home about. The soundtrack in Alien Chaos is fairly basic, with a few catchy tunes here and there but nothing distinctive. There’s only so much I can write about this game’s presentation because while it definitely isn’t an ugly looking game, presentation wasn’t the developers main focus. It’s all about the gameplay.

alien chaos 3d screenshot

All the action takes place on the small stages – with little room for Really to maneuver. It’s an interesting concept which makes the game incredibly frantic without having to ‘up’ the AI – it’s a clever way of making Alien Chaos more difficult. Really is first armed with a basic machine gun, but over the course of the game, players can use an impressive variety of guns  - when robots are destroyed, scrap metal and bullet shells are dispersed on the floor, they can be pushed into a recycling bank, which processes the metal and turns it into weapon upgrades. It’s a unique way of administering weapon upgrades.  You can get a variety of weapons, from machine guns to ‘blasters’.

alein chaos 3d screen

Another cool little feature in Alien Chaos is the ability to clean walls. Wait – there’s more; by cleaning walls, Really charges up his supermeter, once fully charged, the supermeter makes Really do an area attack, which clears out the area using a massive blast. This is very useful in levels later in the game.

Alien Chaos 3D is split into five ‘episodes’ within each episode, there are five levels. At the end of each ‘episode’ (the fifth level), a boss fight awaits.

The controls in this game are extremely simple. Really is controlled via the Circle Pad and players can make Really aim his guns in different directions by pressing either the L or R triggers. The controls can feel a bit clunky at times when action gets hectic but for the most part, controlling Really is a tight experience.

alein chaos 3d screen 2

Alien Chaos 3D is a fairly hard game – you will get punished for silly errors. What makes it even more difficult is the fact that Really has 8 bars of health – essentially 8 lives and there are no ways to replenish the commando’s health. I think it’s not extremely difficult, I’ve definitely played games on the eShop which are harder than Alien Chaos but it certainly isn’t for slackers.

Another mode available to play is the Challenge mode. In Challenge mode, players will have to gain do specific challenges, such destroying a number of robots in a time frame..etc. It’s a very simple mode (can be argued that it’s a very obvious addition) but it does increase replay value.

Alien Chaos 3D also supports StreetPass, although I was unable to test it – lack of people who own 3DS in the small town where I reside!

So what do I make of Alien Chaos 3D? It’s a pretty good game and it’s jam-packed with content considering the bargain £3.59 price point. I don’t have a major complaint, it’s a solid game but that’s just it – it’s solid. It lacks creativity and the gameplay needs to have more mechanics. It’s a very ‘safe’ attempt from Ludiosty.

7/10 – Thanks to Reef Entertainment for the review copy!
