Swapnote now available worldwide

In case you haven’t already noticed, the 3DS application that allows you to send messages to your friends via SpotPass or StreetPass, Swapnote (also known as Letterbox) is now available to download worldwide free of charge from the eshop. Europe and Japan were the first to get it, and now it’s available also in America.

Nintendo Letterbox to be available this December 22nd in the UK

Nintendo UK has announced that the Nintendo Letterbox will be available this December 22nd in the UK to be downloaded from the eshop for free. We are still waiting for a confirmation of the release date for the rest of Europe and America.

Nintendo Letter Box is a fun, simple and creative new way to stay connected with your friends via StreetPass and SpotPass. You can send them messages, 2D and 3D drawings, as well as photos and sound effects all through your Nintendo 3DS. The perfect opportunity to send your friends some Christmas greetings.

3DS Messaging app announced, named Nintendo Letterbox

Update: In North America, Nintendo Letterbox is known as Swapnote.

Announced at the Nintendo Direct conference, Nintendo Letterbox is the app fans have been waiting for. Nintendo Letterbox will allow users to message friends via SpotPass and StreetPass.  That’s not it, users will also be allowed to embed 3D Photographs taken with the 3DS camera and voice recordings in the message.

Nintendo Letterbox will be released in Europe in December and will be available to download for the best price ever, nothing. It will be available to download for free, (presumably) for ever.
