Animal Crossing 3DS will be richer than previous games of the franchise

Nintendo’s global president, Mr. Satoru Iwata believes that Animal Crossing 3DS will take full advantage of the Nintendo 3DS’ unique capabilities to deliver a much richer experience than those found in previous Animal Crossing titles. Here’s the full quote from Mr. Iwata:

“When the company can finalize the development of the software which takes full advantage of these unique functions, for example, if we can do so with the new Animal Crossing for the Nintendo 3DS, our consumers will be able to feel and realise that the new Animal Crossing is not only a richer version of its predecessors but also how positively such functions can affect their play experiences.”

The game is currently scheduled for a Fall release in Japan, but let’s cross our fingers so we’re given a Western release date at the E3 next month.

Amazon France has listed Animal Crossing 3D with a September 28th release date. So far, the only official thing that we know for sure is that the game is arriving this year, therefore, this is, for now, JUST A RUMOR. However, we might not have wait that long to get an official release date for the game, since Nintendo will likely announce it on this year’s E3 in June.

Super Mario 3D, Animal Crossing or Mario Kart to hit this fiscal year

Satoru Iwata stated at a investors conference that if Nintendo doesn’t release Super Mario 3D, Animal Crossing or Mario Kart this fiscal year, then Nintendo will fail to hit their projected number of 16 million Nintendo 3DS units sold.

I think Nintendo needs to get at least two of those titles out.

“We want the other companies to be successful. In order to accomplish this goal, we would like to decide on the dates after we know the release plans of other companies’ games so that we are able to consider how we can maximize the sales of our titles without affecting the sales of other companies in the short term.”

With regard to Super Mario and Mario Kart specifically, he added: “However, especially for the two titles I introduced today, which are the new iterations of “Mario Kart” and “Super Mario,” I did not talk about them with the image of launching them in the next fiscal year or thereafter, so please understand it in that way.”
