New Resident Evil game for the Nintendo 3DS in the works?

Polish website MWRC is reporting that a new Resident Evil title for the Nintendo 3DS will be released later this year. The new game will be presumably titled “Resident Evil: Downfall” and will take place between the events of Resident Evil 5 and Resident Evil 6. The player would control Claire Redfield who would witness the “downfall” of humanity. The game was originally announced by reputable UK publication Digital Spy but the article has already been deleted.

Please remember that at the moment, this is JUST A RUMOR. Therefore, we need to wait for official confirmation from Capcom.

Resident Evil: Revelations producer wants to make another Resident Evil game for the 3DS

In a new interview with IGN, Resident Evil: Revelations producer Masachika Kawata expressed interest in making another RE title for the 3DS. He said:

“The incredibly positive fan reaction to Revelations has definitely given me motivation to make another 3DS RE title. I have some ideas in mind. However, I have a lot of other projects that need to be taken care of first. …I must admit, hearing players say how much they enjoyed Revelations does kind of make me want to forget the other projects and get stuck right into making another RE game for fans to enjoy (laughs).”

The developers of Revelations looked to bring the series back to its root with their game. So when asked about the possibility of seeing additional titles that continue this approach, Kawata answered:

“Of course! Game development is always a very taxing process, no matter what the project, and the only thing that gets us through is the belief that, at the end of the journey, there are people waiting to enjoy the game. So if a game sells particularly well, then we have good reason to make more titles like it.”

Well, that is certainly good news! Would you like to see another Resident Evil title on the 3DS? Let us know in the comments.

Capcom to replace Resident Evil: Revelations boxarts that have the spelling mistake

Some weeks ago, we found out that Capcom had made a spelling mistake on the Resident Evil: Revelations boxart. Today, the company revealed that the boxarts with the spelling mistake will be replaced. Here’s what they had to say:

As you may well have heard by now, the title of Revelations is indeed misspelled on the spine of the game box (as “Revelaitons”). Unfortunately, the initial North American shipment of the game will reflect this error, but we just got confirmation that subsequent shipments of the title are being repackaged to have the correct spelling. Meanwhile, customers who have received the misspelled version can contact our Customer Service line at 650-350-6700 or by email at accounts@capcom.com and we’ll send you a new insert for your case. So yay!
